From the international cat walks to Unique Brighton

| Christian Dior influences the pencil slim lines and waspy waists for 2009 |
The daffodils are telling us Spring has sprung but while one should always be cautious about packing away the woolly jumpers (remember it snowed last April) it is not too soon to start planning the summer wardrobe.
The key looks coming through for summer 2009 are influenced by Japan, Africa and 1970s Britain. From Japan we will see a development of the cinched waist belt in the shape of Obi belts as well as a plethora of kimono sleeves on a variety of dress shapes. From Africa comes the revival of the kaftan – everyone's favourite for hiding the cakes as well as jungle prints on dresses, play suits and summer skirts. And 1970s Britain will come across loud and clear with big psychedelic prints and smocked tops. The big wide belts of last year are still strong and are used to set off high waisted pencil skirts or dresses. Stripes will be everywhere and running in every direction. Shine and sheen will vie with sequins and spangled jewels for evening wear and the new black will be black (of course) but coral will be making a brave attempt to oust it. How are Unique Brighton retailers interpreting the new looks? In the articles below we take a sneak preview of what some of them have in store for you?
